Why Guardian Homes?
Darby Park Doodles has been utilizing the Guardian Home concept for over 20 years. Without this concept in place, I would have never considered becoming a dog breeder. I want only the very best life for my breeding dogs. I do not believe in over populated canine households, or breeding kennels/facilities, as these are not at all in the best interest of any dog. By utilizing Guardian Homes in my program, every mommy and daddy dog can live a fulfilling life with a loving family of their own. I personally will never grow my canine household beyond 3 fur-babies, because otherwise, they simply will not get the love and attention they all deserve. It’s important to note that just because a breeder is utilizing Guardian Homes, it does not mean they still don’t have a kennel or over populated canine household. We all have different reasons for utilizing Guardian Homes. For myself, it’s only for the best interest of our beloved doodles, and making sure every single one of them has a beautiful home life. Darby Park Doodles is a HOME. I’m not a kennel, back yard breeder, or puppy mill. I’m happy to say that I’m the complete opposite of those, and the loving, clean, and healthy family environment you’d want to get your next puppy from.
My Guardian Homes become an intricate part of the Darby Park Doodles team. Helping provide support, love, and extra socialization to our pups, and most importantly, caring for our precious mommy & daddy dogs for the full duration of their lives.
Would you like to be a Guardian Home?
It’s important that all my breeding dogs are properly socialized, trained, and have a loving family environment to live in. I have found that Guardian Homes are the best way to accomplish this for a breeding program. Guardian Homes allow for local families to have my best quality “Pick of the Litter” pups at no puppy purchase fee, and in turn, you will be their forever family while they still participate in my breeding program during their early years of life.
My Guardian Home Program is available to households that live within a 30 to 45 minute drive of Darby Park Doodles in Roseville, California. I place my pups with their new guardian family at 8-10 weeks old. For the first year, Guardians are responsible for loving, properly socializing, training, and routine medical care for the pup. At approximately a year old, I will start the process of health screening the pup at my expense. This includes various OFA certifications, and DNA health panels. Once the pup passes all health screenings, they will begin their breeding career with Darby Park Doodles. For Males, this may be as early as 1 year of age. For females, this is generally no earlier than their 2nd or 3rd heat cycle, or around 2 years old.
Females will have 3 litters of pups in my breeding program. If they are kept on a timely schedule, the females are usually retired by 5 years old. Males will remain in our breeding program until they are approximately 6 years old. Once retired, Darby Park Doodles will pay for their spaying/neutering.
Guardians will be provided a thorough Guardian Home Contract and Binder with all the details.
